What is Extended Reality or XR?

Extended Reality, or XR, is an umbrella term for technologies that integrate digital content with the real world. XR consists of three elements: Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), and Mixed Reality (MR).

Mixed Reality or MR

MR uses a headset to anchor digital content in your real space. You see and interact with virtual objects around you at real-world scale, blending physical and digital elements. MR is generally hands free with no need for controllers. Have a look at our Phygital project work and also Construction sector research for examples.

Augmented Reality or AR

AR overlays digital elements onto the real world. Viewed through devices like smartphones or tablets, it enhances your environment by adding digital layers without replacing it. Have a look at Augmented Reality and Smart Cities for example projects in AR.

Virtual Reality or VR

VR immerses you fully in a digital environment via a headset. In VR, the physical world is completely replaced with a virtual one. Have a look at our Window to the Soul project for an example project.
