The stages below describe how we typically work. Not every project follows every step — some start mid-process, some are exploratory from the outset — but this gives you a clear sense of how we approach things and what to expect at each stage.
00 — Discovery
Understanding the challenge and identifying opportunities.
Every project begins with a conversation. In this stage we take time to understand your organisation, your audience, your objectives, and your constraints. We explore the challenge you are trying to solve and assess where technologies such as AI, augmented reality, or mixed reality may add genuine value.
Typical activities include: initial meetings and workshops, stakeholder engagement, defining objectives and success measures, reviewing existing content and systems, and identifying suitable technologies.
Outcome: A clear understanding of the opportunity and an agreed project direction.
01 — Feasibility
Testing ideas before committing to full development.
Not every idea should move straight into production. A feasibility study allows us to test concepts early, surface risks, and arrive at more accurate costs before larger investment is made. It is a low-risk way to build confidence in an approach before committing to it fully.
Typical activities include: technical investigations, proof of concept development, hardware and software testing, user testing, and budget refinement.
Outcome: Evidence that a proposed approach is technically achievable, practical, and aligned with your goals.
02 — Concept Design
Developing the vision and user experience.
Once feasibility has been established, the project moves into concept design. This stage is about defining how the experience will work — what users will see, how they will move through it, and what it will feel like. We develop the creative direction alongside the structure.
Typical activities include: user journey mapping, storyboarding, interface concepts, experience design, content planning, and creative direction.
Outcome: A clear blueprint for the project before detailed production begins.
03 — Detailed Design & Development
Building, testing, and refining the solution.
This is the production phase. Designs are translated into working systems, applications, and experiences. Content is created, software is built, and the project is tested and refined through an iterative process. We keep you involved throughout so there are no surprises at the end.
Typical activities include: software development, AI integration, 3D content creation, audio and media production, testing and quality assurance, and iterative improvements.
Outcome: A completed and tested solution, ready for deployment.
04 — Delivery & Deployment
Launching the project and preparing your team.
Once development is complete, the project is deployed and handed over. Depending on the nature of the work, this may include installation on-site, app publishing, staff training, and documentation to support ongoing use.
Typical activities include: installation and setup, app deployment, staff training, documentation, and final sign-off.
Outcome: A live, operational solution ready for use.
05 — Support & Evolution
Providing ongoing support and future development.
Technology projects rarely stand still after launch. We offer support arrangements ranging from a short post-launch period through to long-term maintenance and future development, depending on your needs. As your audience grows and your requirements evolve, we can help the project grow with them.
Typical activities include: technical support, software updates, content updates, performance reviews, and future feature development.

At Urban Tech Creative, we use AI as a catalyst for co-creation — enhancing rather than replacing human narratives.
In Window to the Soul, AI was used to synthesise anonymised refugee testimonies into a cohesive narrative framework, enabling stakeholders to shape and approve the direction before it was translated into immersive content. In Dock Stories, AI supported the creation of historically grounded digital characters — both their appearance and their distinct voices. In Trailmakers, AI is used as an educational tool, helping students and teachers co-create digital heritage interpretations through guided prompts and image generation.
