Cambridge Tech Enabled Care Services

The TEC Flat is a demonstration space run by Cambridgeshire County Council where people can explore assistive and smart home technology in a realistic home setting. We were brought in to make it accessible beyond its four walls — and to push the boundaries of what immersive technology could do for the TEC team's outreach work.
Working with tour specialists TD360, we produced an interactive 360° virtual tour of the flat, complete with embedded videos and information across seven technology categories. It launched in May 2026 and can be explored in a Meta Quest 3 headset or straight from a web browser at td360.co.uk/TECSmartFlat. Urban Tech Creative are providing ongoing support for the tour going forward.
Alongside the tour, we carried out an Extended Reality (XR) R&D phase with the TEC team — covering both Augmented Reality and Mixed Reality. This included a tablet-based AR experience for events and outreach, and high-quality 3D models of individual assistive devices viewable at real-world scale through a Meta Quest 3, without needing the physical flat or equipment to be present. The R&D phase defined a "TEC Flat in a headset" approach that we're hoping to explore further with the team.
